GLANVILLES WOOTTON, HOLNEST AND MIDDLEMARSH VILLAGE HALL
On Saturday 24 August, a further group of volunteers from our village completed the second coat of paint on the village hall. The efforts of the 28 individuals who have helped over 3 weekends continues to be admired. On behalf of the Glanvilles Wootton, Holnest and Middlemarsh village hall committee, I would like to thank the following people for their wonderful efforts: – Bex, Chris & Jo Allender, David Davies, Annie Dove, Charles & Louise Dutton, Tony Eagles, Annie & Christopher Gabbey, Paul Goodfelow, Jenny & Keith Hunnisett, Claire & Nathan Neal, Edwin Parrott, Lloyd & Naomi Rimmer, Luisa Roverato, Mike & Louise Sandy, Georgina & Richard Taylor, Pam & Roger Taylor, Chris & Jenny Toyne. In particular, I’m sure we’d all like two thank Louise Dutton and Luisa Roverato who provided lunches (with wine) for the work parties which were absolutely yummy!
There are 2 more tasks to be fulfilled: The first is to fit white uPVC facias over the partly rotten timbers; they’ll never need painting again. That’ll get done within the next month or so. Next is a surprising one! We painted a black band at ground level at about 8 inches high on the small extension at the front and also the new kitchen at the back. People have said how smart it looks. Can we have it around the whole building? It’s our final task then and it’ll be one evening from 6-ish onwards. More info to follow.
Thank you all again!

The hall can be hired by the hour, session or day or any length of time agreed Trustees. A session being a morning, afternoon or evening. As a guide the hourly rate for non commercial events in 2016 was £3 per hour for residents and organisations based in the villages of Glanvilles Wootton, Holnest and Middlemarsh and £3.50 per hour for external lets. In addition to this a £1 slot meter is in place for electricity for the overhead heaters in the main hall and for the range cooker in the kitchen. The cost of hall hire has been kept to this low level due to ongoing fund raising events run by the Hall Trustees and the generosity of the local community together with more recent and lottery and community grant funding to help finance the new kitchen.
